The Sudanese ambassador to Rwanda expressed his sadness at the acts of torture inflicted by RSF on the population of Darfur

The Sudanese Ambassador to Rwanda, Khalid Musa Dafalla Musa, has described the deteriorating situation in Sudan due to the three-year war between the government forces and the Rapid Support Forces RSF, and how they see President Paul Kagame as a mediator who can provide a solution.

He reiterated this on November 3, 2025, when he spoke to the Rwandan media about the three-year-old conflict. Since the war began in 2023, more than 150,000 people have lost their lives, 13 million have been displaced, and the country is suffering from drought. The city of El Fasher is currently the scene of heavy fighting, since the group took control of more than 60,000 residents who have fled their homes.

Ambassador Khalid Musa pointed out that RSF fighters continue to commit “Genocide” by killing people based on ethnicity and that they are supported by various countries, including those that provide them with money and weapons, including drones that can be fired from afar.

Sudan claims to have solid evidence that countries, including powerful ones, have a hand in this three-year-old war.

Ambassador Khalid Musa says that the night of October 26, 2025, was a human tragedy in the city of El Fasher where this group killed about 3,000 people, including patients in various hospitals, children and women, and buried others alive.

These are actions that also affect relief efforts because this RSF group has chosen to use starvation on the population as a weapon in this war.

The Ambassador stressed that the fighters of this group continue to commit crimes, calling on the international community to condemn and fight them, saying, “In fact, they are not blaming RSF for what it is doing, they are condemning and expressing their concerns, but we Sudanese people also need justice and transparency. We are waiting for the UN Security Council to hold RSF accountable for the crimes they are committing. We Sudanese people are very angry.”

Ambassador Khalid Musa said that the RSF is using modern equipment including long-range missiles and combat vehicles, as well as about 10,000 mercenaries from various countries including Colombia, Ukraine, Ethiopia, South Sudan and others. He said that this war has had serious consequences, including the displacement of more than 13 million people.

The Ambassador said that Rwanda could help in efforts to end the war in Sudan through political means as a country committed to peace. “We need Rwanda to do two things, including being a partner in achieving peace, and helping the Sudanese people to reach a real solution through mutual cooperation, and we appreciate the role of President Paul Kagame and we hope for political support for Rwanda.” The Ambassador spoke about what they expect from Rwanda.

He continued by indicating that President Kagame could help in urging countries that are supporting RSF to stop it and that his experience could help. “Paul Kagame’s leadership in this matter is needed, because he has the trust of the Sudanese people,” he said.

Ambassador Musa Dafalla said that Rwanda’s policy of unity and reconciliation is a great lesson for African countries and that they should also learn from it. He welcomed the way Rwanda has a program to rehabilitate former members of armed groups fighting against the government operating in the Congolese forests, confirming that they too can use this path once the fighting is over. “This is one of the things we believe we will focus on, so that the Sudanese people can live together in peace and development because Sudan needs a single army that serves all its citizens”. He said.

In addition to killing civilians, the RSF is accused of severely damaging infrastructure including hospitals, schools, hydroelectric dams, Khartoum airport and others.
